On Garland (this site's theme): The origins

October 2006 has been a busy month for Drupal 5 because the new theme for Drupal (Garland) was being developed.
Origins
In 2006, there was a need to replace the old Bluemarine theme that was the default theme for Drupal 4.7 and earlier. Steven Wittens decided to (along with Stefan Nagtegaal) create the new theme. Their theme was originally called Themetastic. It evolved from a boring theme to a nice theme you can change colors with. The Garland theme works on Drupal 5, Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 (Drupal 4.7 works, but has minor issues). The full log from start to finish.
Try it out!
If you use Drupal 5.0+, you will have the Garland theme already packaged (unless you removed it). In Drupal 5 and 6, go to Administer >> Site building >> Themes and select garland (Drupal 5) or Garland (Drupal 6). For Drupal 7 users, simply go to the Appearance button at the top.
