New sleek theme

I got an awesome new theme on this site! I replaced my old Garland theme with this theme. It may look familiar to Mac users.

In the new theme, the search box has been moved to a more better place outside the sidebar.

AHHH!!! My site's broken!!!

I am temporarily moving back here because my new blog site is down! I just enabled the CCK module and ... BAM, my site crashes and displays a page not found error on every single page on the site (even admin pages!). I hope DrupalCafe would fix this problem. If they don't this will once again be my permanent home on the web.

Moving!

I am moving to this site. My new host runs Drupal 6, while this one uses Drupal 5. Although this place has a lot of blog posts, I am starting out fresh over there. If you are currently subscribing to this site's feed, please switch to this feed.

Bye!

P.S. The new site doesn't have those annoying ads.

Sorry...

I haven't posted in a while now. I was focused on my Woprdpress site. And I have got a busy school year to go through. I will try to post more blog posts if I can.

Also I am making changes to this site.

Drupal + Apache Solr = FAIL

I've tried Apache Solr with Drupal but resulted in errors. Here's what happened on my two attempts:

  1. The first time, the Apache Solr integration module said it couldn't find Solr, although I installed it on my Tomcat server (used Acquia Drupal)
  2. On my second time, Drupal crashed with an error screen (used Drupal core)

It has (at time of writing) 124 open issues (total; bugs + feature requests + tasks + support requests) and out of the 124 open issues, 43 of them are bug reports. (that's a LOT)

So I insist not falling into the module's trick.

Why MediaWiki is so bad

One of the things I hate about MediaWiki is that you have to use those [[Category:name]] (name is a placeholder of the category's name) links at the bottom of the page. In Drupal, you can enable tagging (makes an AJAX field for tagging; searches for existing tags), multi-select or select from a drop-down list. This could be complicated if you have to categorize/tag the article a lot of things. You couldn't simply copy-paste a comma-separated list into a MediaWiki article, but have to put those category links at the bottom of the article. This can be confusing because MediaWiki also uses the square brackets ([[ and ]]) for both internal links and "inter-wiki" links too. Also, there is no tag cloud extension available for MediaWiki.
